In its turn, the last marble series – Pães e Doces (Breads and Sweets) – turns out to be, through its humour and bareness, the last to close a cycle.
Here, the stone receives a pop treatment, disenchanted, of bread dough. Almost Oldenburg jokes, those basic sculptures translate perfectly the spirit of the work – manual ingenuity, spontaneous enchantment by the everyday life, and an irrepressible, albeit ironic and distanced, mimetic compulsion come to a free and frank association.
